Chengdu Industry and Commerce: Part of children's shoes over formaldehyde

On October 11, the Chengdu Administration for Industry and Commerce conducted quality inspections on children's shoes sold in the circulation areas of Qingyang District, Chongzhou Integrated Market, and Lotus Pond Dacheng Market in the third quarter of 2011. The monitoring was entrusted to the inspection of leather products quality supervision and inspection station in Sichuan Province. The results showed that some of the unqualified children's leather shoes were mainly characterized by peel strength, formaldehyde content, and bottom wear resistance, which did not meet the requirements of national standards.

Ai Yuanzhong, a staff member of the Sichuan Provincial Supervision and Inspection Station for Leather Products, explained that the peel strength and wear resistance of the outer soles mainly examine whether the product quality is firm. The peel strength is not qualified, and the adhesive is easily cracked under the influence of external force, which not only affects the appearance, but also easily penetrates into the shoes through the cracked area, and there is a safety hazard. Outsole wear resistance is not qualified, the sole is easily worn through.

Excessive levels of formaldehyde, the skin is easy to absorb formaldehyde, light children are likely to cause skin irritation and inflammation, severe affect the child's liver, endanger the health of children.

At present, the industry and commerce departments have ordered the enterprises to lower the unqualified products, and require the companies to immediately carry out rectification, and they can be listed and sold only after being rectified and reviewed.
