When the delightful members of the Smocking Arts Guild of America reached out to me last year and invited me to serve as their featured guest instructor at their annual conference (scheduled for September 19-21—so close now!), I was honestly overwhelmed. They’re masters in the art of smocking, while I consider myself more of an enthusiastic amateur who's still exploring the world of smocked contemporary clothing.
After countless discussions and brainstorming sessions (thanks so much to everyone on the forum for your invaluable contributions!), we crafted what I believe will be an incredible lineup of workshops. I’ve spent the entire year preparing, and I’m thrilled with how everything is shaping up. For these classes, I’ve developed a brand-new dress pattern exclusively for this event (you won't find it anywhere else). We’ll use this single pattern to create numerous unique dress styles. Think of it as taking the customization tips we’ve shared in our smaller tutorials but on a grander scale!

By the end of these classes, you'll feel empowered to design dresses that reflect your personal style and confidently modify them to achieve various looks—all starting from just one pattern. No formal pattern-making qualifications needed! There’s no need to draft patterns from scratch either; instead, you’ll transform the pattern I provide into multiple distinct styles. Trust me, it’s easier than you might think.
