The mat supplies must be maintained before they are put together.

Summer is coming to an end, and it’s time to store away the mats we’ve been using all season. Proper maintenance and storage can really help prolong their lifespan. I talked to Yalan Bedding's Chen Xiaomei about this, and she shared some great tips. Before putting your mats into storage, make sure you give them a thorough cleaning. First, use warm water to scrub both the surface and the gaps thoroughly. Then, dilute some mild saltwater at a concentration of 3-5%, and gently rub both sides of the mat a few times. Avoid soaking the mat in hot water, as this could cause deformation. Once cleaned, let it dry under the sun for around 20 minutes. This helps kill off any allergens or insect eggs while also removing sweat stains. Just remember not to leave it out in direct sunlight for too long, as excessive UV exposure might damage the material. After drying, wrap the mat in a cotton cloth that has been dipped in hazelnut oil or eucalyptus oil, and gently wipe it down. Next, place some newspaper inside the rolled-up mat to absorb any remaining moisture. Finally, seal it up tightly with plastic wrap or another breathable membrane. When storing, try not to stack anything heavy on top of the mat, and ensure it remains in a well-ventilated area to prevent dampness. These steps will help keep your mats fresh and ready for next year, ensuring they stay in good condition and last longer.
