World famous diamond - "Regent King"

The "Regent King" diamond was named after the Prince of France, who was once regent. Because it was previously the British Governor of India in Peter, also known as "Peter" diamonds. The stone was weighing four hundred and ten carats, and after grinding it was reduced by two-thirds of the weight, leaving only one hundred and thirty-seven carats. It is said that the diamond has been polished for two years, and the processing fee alone costs 71,000 marks (one for 144,000 marks).

Like many famous diamonds, this diamond is also shrouded in mysterious fog. First of all, no one can make it clear about its place of origin. Some say it was produced in the Basquir diamond mine in India; others say it is a slave found in the Pyrenea Springs. He was afraid that when people found out, they cut a hole in their legs and hid the diamond inside, so it was easy to escape to the beach. At this point, a sailor was walking by the sea, and the slave confided to him, asking him to take him on board and promised to sell the money. The two were equally divided.

The sailor led the slave to the boat. When the ship sailed into the sea, the sailor called the slave to the side of the deck and asked him to take the diamond out. The slaves did. The sailor took it and looked at it again: it was a crystal clear diamond! At this point, he suddenly made a mysterious statement to the slave: "Someone is chasing it!" The moment the slave horrified and looked back at the sea, he put the diamond into his pocket, then pushed hard and pushed the slave The waves and the boundless sea drown in the water.

After the ship was docked, the sailor could not wait to sell the giant diamond to the Governor of Peter for a thousand pounds (one thousand 20,000 marks). The sailor ate and gambled, and soon spent the ill-gotten wealth. Later, because he could not afford the gambling debt, he was forced to die and fell to the end of the hang.

According to another statement, Peter bought the diamond from the famous Indian gem merchant Yahmond in 1701, worth 312,500 francs.

As for the future traces, it is clearer. Peter sold the diamond to the French regent, the Duke of Orleans, for 2.5 million francs. Since then, it has been named "Regent King." In 1791, the French Jewelry Association valued it 12 million francs.

In the French Revolution of 1872, the "Regent King" was stolen along with other royal jewels and disappeared for a long time.

Who knows that many years later, Paris cracked a criminal group that made counterfeit coins. One of them was accounted for in court. He was involved in the theft of "Regent King" and other jewellery. He later claimed that it was he who later wrote a letter to the government detailing where the diamond and other jewels were hidden, and the police found them, and he himself was given a generous punishment.

Due to financial constraints, the French government mortgaged the "Regent King" to Berlin (one said Bataviv) rich businessman Treslav. After Napoleon came to power, he redeemed it and embedded it in his sword. It is said that it is this magical diamond that enabled him to successfully launch the coup of the 18th of the fog and climb the throne of the emperor.

In the mid-nineteenth century, the French government decided to auction royal jewels, all of which were worth 40 million francs, while the "Regent King" diamonds were only six million, only half of the valuation in 1791.
