After more than 30 years of rolling development, the annual output value of Shishi textile and garment industry has exceeded 50 billion yuan, and a number of clothing brands such as Fugui Bird, Edenberg and Dipai have been born, and it has become a famous Chinese leisure clothing city. However, with the rapid growth of the domestic textile and garment industry's production capacity, the overcapacity of the whole industry has hit, and the pressure on Shishi textile and garment enterprises has doubled.

Faced with the test, some Shishi textile and garment enterprises began to seek "going out to sea" to resolve excess capacity.

In order to serve enterprises “going out to sea”, since last year, the Shishi government and the textile industry have organized relevant forces and increased investment. Through international purchasing groups, international clothing associations, e-commerce platforms and other means, they have increased their promotion abroad. Buyers from emerging market countries such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia are coming.

At the same time as organizing enterprises to participate in the emerging market, Shishi emphasized that “the group” and participated in the overseas emerging markets in the name of the clothing city and achieved remarkable results. Statistics show that in the export structure of Shishi Clothing City last year, the export sales from emerging markets such as the Middle East, Russia and Southeast Asia accounted for nearly 50%, an increase of 15% over the previous year.

In the process of “going out to sea”, some leading enterprises have increased product development and productivity, and actively optimized the product export structure. For the European market demand for high-end products, since last year, Shishi textile and garment industry has developed a corn fabrics, carbon fiber fabrics, stone Tai Chi fabrics, synthetic fabrics and a number of new nano products, greatly welcome international market.

Statistics show that the first 10 months of last year, Shishi garment export unit price of less than hundred dollars of clothing, from 65% three years ago down to the present 40%; the proportion of exports of high-end apparel fabrics, increased from less than 20% three years ago to 40 %.

“In the past, because textile and apparel products were concentrated in the low-end sector, our sales were difficult to enter Europe, the United States, Japan and other developed countries and regions. At present, with the increase in the proportion of high-end products, this situation has been significantly reversed.” Shishi Textile Tian Qiming, president of the clothing trade association, said.
