Amber color cannot be used as a basis for identifying geological ages

Not long ago, the same scholar in the United States studied Dominican amber and concluded that the different colors of amber can be used as a basis for identifying different geological ages, that is, the dark amber age and the light amber age. This is an interesting and meaningful question. If this view is established, it will be simple and practical for the determination of the geological age, and it can save a lot of experimental funds. However, the different colors of amber used to identify geological time is not so simple? To this end, we did some experiments. Deep and shallow two different colors of amber were collected in the same coal seam of the ancient city subgroup of Fushun Western Open-pit Mine. Deep and shallow amber specimens were collected in the Xixia Naper in Henan Province. Professor Guo Shiqing from Fudan University Analysis Center, etc. An experiment of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was performed. According to the analysis results, the amber age of Fushun water and color is 50 million to 60 million years. It belongs to the Eocene in the same era; the amber age of the West Gorge without color is between 0.8 billion and 100 million years, and it belongs to the Cretaceous era of an era. This conclusion is exactly the same as the conclusion that the geological and paleontological data judged that the more than 50 million years belong to the Eocene and the 108 million to 110 million years belong to the Cretaceous. The experimental results show that the different colors of amber cannot be used as the basis for the identification date.

So, why do amber have different colors? The reason is complex and is caused by many factors. But one thing to point out is that the different colors of amber are closely related to the material sources of different tree species of the year. At the same time, it is also possible to infiltrate other substances in the process of resin becoming amber, to produce different chemical reactions, and to relate to the geological environment of the year, such as the temperature and pressure of the deep earth. This is not a simple matter. Therefore, the different colors of amber cannot simply be considered as the basis for identifying the old and new geological ages.
